Nutshell allows you to sync your email address so you can correspond with your clients, and offers a suite of email marketing tools with our Nutshell Campaigns add-on, giving you the ability to distribute marketing content to your customers—but how do you decide which to use? If you’ve ever asked yourself this question, read on!

Personal emails, email templates, and personal email sequences

Personal emails, including pre-built templates and personal email sequences, are intended for direct communication with an individual or small group of individuals on a specific subject. This mode of communication typically occurs with established customers, or prospects with whom you’re discussing a specific sale or opportunity. These individuals may have engaged with you on your website, seen your marketing materials elsewhere online, or reached out directly to ask questions about a product or service you’re offering. Often, you’ll already have an established relationship with these individuals, or you’re working towards that.

If you need to correspond directly with an existing or prospective customer on a specific topic, chances are you’ll want to use one of these methods of communication. Find out more about personal email sequences in this article.

Marketing emails (sent via Nutshell Campaigns add-on)

While personal emails typically come from an individual, marketing emails typically come from a company or a role within that company (like the sales team, for example). Marketing emails are fundamentally different from personal emails primarily in that they are not designed for back-and-forth communication. The broadcasts, newsletters, and drip sequences you can compose and send using the Nutshell Campaigns add-on are not intended for regular correspondence. This isn’t the option for you if you need a

customer to reply. These emails are meant to advertise, inform, and generate interest.

Common uses for marketing emails include promoting a new product or service, and sharing company updates with your customers, but the possibilities extend far beyond those examples.

The Nutshell Campaigns add-on is most attractive to customers who want to manage their sales automation and email marketing in the same ecosystem. You can read more about Nutshell Campaigns here.

FAQ

What are my sending limits?

For personal emails, personal email templates, and personal email sequences, your daily sending limits are imposed by your email provider, not Nutshell. Consult your email provider for confirmation of what is covered under your current plan.

For marketing outreach sent via Nutshell Campaigns, your monthly sending limit is equivalent to 8x the number of marketable contacts covered under your plan. For example, if you purchased Nutshell Campaigns covering up to 5000 contacts, you can send up to 40K emails during each billing cycle. If you haven’t purchased the Nutshell Campaigns add-on, you still have full access to those tools but can only send 150 marketing emails each month.
