If your organization sells a large number of products or services, keeping up with those details in your CRM can be difficult. Yet maintaining an accurate product list is crucial for tracking lead value, reporting on sales and more.

With Nutshell’s product importer, you can import or update your products and services with a quick and easy spreadsheet import. Whether you’re just getting started in Nutshell or updating prices for all of your products, the product importer makes it a breeze.

Before importing your products

Before importing or updating products using the product importer, it’s crucial to add your company’s markets and verify correct product availability across markets. The product importer will respect the markets and product availability you’ve already established, so be sure these are updated before continuing.

Update markets by navigating to Settings > Organization > Markets. Click the ‘+Add market’ button to include additional markets.

Learn more about adding multiple markets to your Nutshell account at this support article.

Multiple markets are available on Sales Business (limit of three) and Sales Enterprise (unlimited) plans.

If you are updating existing products, you’ll also want to verify that the product is available in the correct markets, especially if you’re updating pricing across multiple markets.

Click on the three-dot menu next to the product and select ‘Edit.’ From there, you can change:

  • The product’s name

  • Product type

  • SKU

  • Value in each market

  • Availability in each market

Where to find the product importer

Access the product importer by navigating to Settings > Data > Import and selecting ‘Products and prices.’ This will open the product importer page, where you can upload your product list.

Using the product importer

Click the ‘Import’ button to begin importing your products or services.

Import your spreadsheet

You’ll be prompted to upload your spreadsheet, which can be in one of the following formats:

  • .CSV

  • .TSV

  • .TXT

  • .XLS

  • .XLSX

  • .XML

You can also choose to manually input your product information, including name, SKU and prices across multiple markets. We also offer a product template that includes the necessary columns, which you can fill out with your company’s product list.

Verify your products will import correctly

The importer will then walk you through selecting the header row in your spreadsheet. This step is crucial for ensuring your data imports accurately.

Next, you can match your spreadsheet columns to the product information columns in Nutshell. You may see suggested matches appear with a blue sparkle icon—you can confirm or reject those column suggestions using the dropdown menu.

Next is data cleaning, where the importer will provide an opportunity to bulk fix any errors or missing information.

Review and submit the import

Finally, you can review your data and make any edits needed.

Click ‘Finish’ and submit your import to start the import process.

The import page will show that your import is in progress, and you can refresh the page to see when the import is complete.

View the completed import

When the import is complete, it will appear in the Import History section of the page. Click ‘View products’ to go to the Products page and see the changes made by your import.

Filter the products by created time to see your most recently created products, including those from your import.
