Nutshell integrates with MailChimp for easy publishing and sending of email newsletters.
Use MailChimp to automate email marketing drips. You can add Nutshell contacts to MailChimp at the click of a button to add them to your audiences and start sending marketing materials, sales collateral, and newsletters.

- Click Company Settings
- Click Integrations
- Click Enable next to MailChimp
- Choose whether or not your contacts have previously given permission to add them to your MailChimp audiences, and if you want to auto create date field for Autoresponder. Then click Save.
- In MailChimp, enter your username and password, and Log In.
Export People to MailChimp
People can be exported from the people or lead lists using the "Export to MailChimp" link on the lower right corner. Select the people or leads you want to add to MailChimp, choose the audience, and decide whether you want to send a welcome email.
MailChimp will prevent duplicate email addresses from being added to your audience. If a customer unsubscribes, MailChimp also prevents you from accidentally re-adding their email address back onto a mailing audience. Add leads to MailChimp audiences as part of your sales automation
Automatically send leads to MailChimp audiences and remove them from campaigns at the right time. Email addresses from the first company and all people on the lead will be added to the specified MailChimp audience.

What Nutshell data can I export to MailChimp?
The following fields can be exported from Nutshell to MailChimp automatically:
- Email address
- Full address
- Phone number
The following fields can be exported from Nutshell to MailChimp using these matching merge fields:
- Date, number, and text custom fields that match exactly between Nutshell and MailChimp (Please note that MailChimp limits text fields to 255 characters)
- Company type
- Company name
- Person owner
- Job title
- Person API ID
Can I export my Nutshell contacts to MailChimp segments?
Yes! You can now export your Nutshell Contacts to MailChimp segments by following these easy steps:
- Create segment rules in MailChimp, using merge fields that match the exact same custom field in Nutshell. If we want to segment by favorite color (a custom field in Nutshell), for example, the MailChimp audience should be segmented based on that merge field.
- For example: If job title = CEO, add to segment 'Executive team', if job title = Marketer, add to segment 'Marketing'.
- Next, export your list from Nutshell to MailChimp by following the instructions above, taking care to include the custom field you created in your column view before clicking 'Export'. MailChimp will do your segmenting for you!
If a contact unsubscribes in MailChimp, does it apply to all my audiences?
In a word - no. In the MailChimp Guides and Tutorials section, it's mentioned that MailChimp treats all audiences in your account independently. When a contact unsubscribes from an audience, they opt out of marketing emails for that audience only.
We suggest making sure that once a contact unsubscribes from an audience within your organization, you import their email addresses as unsubscribed. This prevents contacts who believe they have opted out of email correspondence from your organization from accidentally receiving emails sent to another audience. What's the difference between an audience and a list?
MailChimp recently changed its verbiage from a 'list' to an 'audience'. Both represent a batch of contacts that you would like to email, and can be segmented using the methods described above.
