How to use

  1. Find that individual company, lead or person you want to keep in touch with.

  2. On that company, lead or person page, click + Add task to create the task
    โ€‹

  3. Click on Does not repeat to choose your preferred frequency
    โ€‹

  4. You can choose between two recurrence modes depending on how you'd like Nutshell to create the next task when you complete the current one:
    โ€‹

By due time (default) โ€” The next task is always created based on the fixed date sequence you've set, regardless of when you actually completed the previous one. This is ideal for keeping to a strict, predictable schedule.

Example: Your task is set to recur on the 1st Wednesday of every month. You complete it a little late on June 19th โ€” no problem! The next task is still created for July 1st, keeping your schedule intact.
    โ€‹

By completion time โ€” The next task is created a set amount of time after you complete the current one. This works well when the timing of your next task should reflect when you last actually took action.
    โ€‹

Example: Your task is set to recur 1 month after completion. You complete it on June 19th. Your next task is created for July 19th โ€” one month from your actual completion date.
    โ€‹

  5. Check your Dashboard, as you would daily, and use the follow-ups filter on your task list to see all of your scheduled follow-ups. You can also edit or complete your follow-ups.

Follow up frequency

How often should this task repeat?
โ€‹

You have full control over the schedule. Choose from a set of quick defaults to get set up in seconds, or configure something custom if you need a specific cadence.

Quick defaults:

  • Weekly on [current weekday] โ€” for example, every Wednesday

  • Monthly on [current date] โ€” for example, the 1st of every month

  • Every 3 months

Custom schedule: Set the task to recur every X days, weeks, or months. If you go weekly, you can also choose which specific day of the week it falls on.

Higher frequency check-ins can help with some contacts to encourage multi-touches throughout the sales cycle, and strengthen your relationship!

FAQ

Can I customize the frequency of a follow-up?

Yes! You can set any cadence โ€” every X days, weeks, or months โ€” or choose one of the quick defaults to get going straight away. Weekly tasks also let you choose which specific day of the week they fall on.
โ€‹

What happens when I complete a recurring task?
As soon as you mark it complete, Nutshell automatically creates the next task in the series. If you're using by due time mode, it follows your fixed schedule. If you're using by completion time mode, it counts forward from the date you completed the task.
โ€‹

Can I change the schedule on an existing recurring task?
Yes! Open the task, update the schedule, and the new timing will apply to all future tasks in the series.
โ€‹

Will I receive notifications to remind me to follow up?
Yes! Nutshell will treat your follow-up reminders like regular tasks, so you will receive your 30 minute reminder notifications when they are coming due.
โ€‹

How do I stop a recurring task?
Open the task and remove the recurrence setting, or delete the task entirely. No further tasks in the series will be created after that. โ€‹
