Email Preference Center: Let your contacts choose their email preferences

Make it easy for your contacts to choose which Audiences they want to be in and what marketing messages they want to receive.

If your team sends different newsletters or campaigns to specific marketing Audiences, Nutshell’s Email preference center gives your recipients a way to opt in or out of individual types of content, instead of unsubscribing from everything at once.

Your admin user(s) can add up to 10 audiences to your Email preference center, each with its own public name and description. This helps your customers understand what kind of emails they’re signing up for (even if the internal audience name you’ve created in Nutshell is more specific to your team).

Once your preferences are set up, anyone who clicks the unsubscribe link in a marketing email will land on a page where they can choose which types of emails they want to keep getting.

How to add preferences to your unsubscribe page

To add preferences that your contacts can opt in or out of:

  • Go to Marketing > Email > Preference center

  • Click the Add preference button in the top right

  • Choose an audience from your list

  • In the dialog that appears, enter a public name and description.

    • This is what your email recipients will see when they click the ‘Unsubscribe’ button in your email. Use a clear, friendly name and a short description that explains the type of content they can expect if they stay subscribed to that content.

  • Click Save

Your new preference will appear in the list on the right, with a preview of how it will look on the unsubscribe page shown on the left.

You can return to this page at any time to edit or remove preferences. Each preference is linked to the specific audience you chose when creating it. When someone opts in or out of that preference, they’re automatically added to or removed from that audience.

Can I add more than one preference?

Yes, you can add up to 10 different preferences to your Email preference center.

Can I edit the public name or description later?

Yes, you can edit or remove preferences at any time from the Email preference center page.

What do my recipients see?

When someone clicks the unsubscribe link in a marketing email, they’ll be taken to a page that shows all of your email preferences with their public names and descriptions. They can choose which types of emails they’d like to keep receiving.

Can someone opt back in later?

Yes. The unsubscribe link will continue to work even after someone unsubscribes. They can revisit it anytime and reselect the content they’d like to receive.

Does this change how Audiences work in Nutshell?

No, Audiences still function the same way inside Nutshell. The Email preference center simply gives your recipients more control over which content they receive.

Am I limited to 10 Audiences in Nutshell?

Nope! You have unlimited Audiences. We just limit your preference center to 10 for a better experience for your customers.
